Huddle-Innovation in Collaboration

Collaboration tools are one of the hottest segments in webtools at this moment.  The days of being limited only to Microsoft’s SharePoint are in the rear view mirror.  While there are dozens of online collaboration providers, I seek out those that are offering capabilities that are best suited and adapted by sales professionals-those I call Salesmakers.

    Huddle features no kind of CRM, which, when it comes to sales management/tracking is kind of important.

    It has some cool features, but certainly no more than other competitors such as Glasscubes or 37Signals!

    • Rob, thanks for your comments. In the spirit of fairness It should be pointed out to other readers that Rob works for GlassCubes.

      With that said, you bring up an interesting point about no CRM. Do users really want CRM as part of their collaboration tool? I find that most salesmakers already have a chosed CRM platform that is in place, and having more than one CRM tool is usually a recipe for disaster.

      With that said, it would be interesting to learn if there was an ability to connect the Collaboration tool AND the CRM tool so that activity would be reflected in CRM of choice.

      After a quick review of GlassCubes site, I would say that Huddle does offer LinkedIn integration, live web conferencing and phone conferencing as unique built-in features in a collaboration tool.

    I don’t want CRM, personally, I think the product needs a discrete set of functionality because you cannot expect these systems to compete on every front. However, I could really make good use of some basic blog functionality, enough to allow me to create hierarchical page structures to refelect Departments/Divisions. I’m about to look for a WordPress plugin or something similar, but if it was in core for these products they’d become very alluring intranet production environments for those of who are tasked with introducing this kind of functionality in organisations with an old fashioned understanding of what an intranet should look like.
